The geoid — moiré-like, simultaneously material earth and mathematical shape — has drawn me since my school days into worlds just beyond my current knowledge base, into realms inhabited by voices from the ancient past, the revolutionary modern, the geographically distributed, and the fabled worlds of terrestrial, marine, and satellite surveying, and, above all, into social worlds where the intellectual chase intersects with storied characters, competitions, and gendered conflicts

O geóide como objeto transicional 
O geóide – como num efeito moiré, simultaneamente terra material e forma matemática- me levou desde meus dias de escola para mundos que estavam além de minha base corrente de conhecimento, para reinos habitados por vozes do passado distante, do revolucionário moderno, do geograficamente distribuído, e para os fabulosos mundos das vigilâncias terrestres, marinhas e por satélite e, acima de tudo, para os mundos sociais onde a perseguição intelectual intercepta disposições históricas, competições e conflitos de gênero.
