The CPEQS is a center of academic excellence founded in 2006, based on the initiative of Dr. Neuma Aguiar, retired professor of the Department of Sociology at UFMG. Throughout its trajectory the Center elaborated three multidisciplinary surveys in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte; An unprecedented research on the uses of time; Established international agreements for the development of comparative research; And trained hundreds of students and practitioners in quantitative methods under the Intensive course on Quantitative Methodology (MQ), analogous to Michigan summer ICPSR courses. Today, the center keeps its primary and pioneer function to train and gather extraordinary teachers and students to foster the development and dissemination of quality quantitative research investigating social numbers that matter.
